Re: Dashboard Query about Database

You can have two approach:

1. You can bring all data with initial refresh and then filter the data with combo-box insertions. This way, the initial refresh may take more time, but subsequent filter actions from combo box will be faster.

2. Bring only the LOVs for the drop-downs during initial refresh (or hardcode LOVs in excel) and based on the values selected in combo-box, you can trigger refresh of the connection to fetch filtered data. This way, initial screen of dashboard will appear fast but subsequent filter actions from combo-box selections will be slower as it will hit the database every time the selection changes.

Hi all,

In BO I have changed the external address on DNS say abc.com

Now when I try to access the dashboard internally it gives the error trying to access xyz.com which was previous external ip.

The error I get is

"

To access external data, add a cross-domain policy file to the external data web server.

For more information, on the Adobe website, see the article "Cross-domain Policy File Specification".

If the problem persists, contact the file creator or your system administrator.

May be in connections, you have hardcoded the server as xyz.com. It is always advisable to use relative url so that the servername and port is resolved in runtime.

Also, check in CMC > Applications > Web Service > Properties what is the server name specified ? Is it still the old one ?

Hi,

We are using BOE 11.0.

we try to schedule a new report with multiple database logins for testing in BOE. When we run the report we are getting error like "Not enough memory for the operation error"

The same report has been executed successfully when we run using Crystal reports developer. The report is fectching less than 10K records from all the databases together.

Please let me know which is causing the issue and also let me know is there any limit in the number of databases connecting for a single report.

many thanks in advance for all your help.

Cheers,

Suri ;-)

Hi Surendra,

Try the simple steps first, each BO component's memory consumption is different. So try to increase available memory:

Review the system requirements to ensure that you have sufficient memory for BusinessObjects. You

can also close other applications to release more memory.

Empty your Recycle Bin and delete any unnecessary files.

Hope this work.

Re: Multicolumn filtering in dashboards

Hi,

I have a similar issue and I am able to use multiple combo boxes and filter rows upon selection. Now I have another requirement. The dashboard user wants to see a total value on the chart too. This means if I select year 2005, for quarter selection there should be an (All) selection that would sum up the values for all the quarters. I have a third level for months in a quarter and if i select a particular quarter, I should be able to select (All) to see the sum of all months in that quarter. Is this possible in the same chart? Please let me know if my question is not clear.

Hi Vishal,

That is reason I want to know, what error it gives. It gives any error or simply writes that it is not possible?

You need to have two numeric series dependent on same category axis (time). Did you map the category axis properly ? May be you can explain better with a screenshot.

How are you defining the pages ?

If you have used tab set component, you can use the combo boxes inside the particular tab you want to display the same.

If you have used label based menu, you can control visibility of the combo boxes with dynamic visibility based on the menu selection.

Please check the XLF file attached. Let me know if you have any doubt.

How to open the file:

1. Download the zip file.

2. Extract the file Sample.xlf.txt.

3. Rename it to Sample.xlf.

4. Open in Dashboards Designer tool.

Noopur,

In fact, Office 2010 worked fine for me. Looks like the Office 365 still is a big problem for live office and Dashboards.

Thanks

You can hide the combo box behind any chart by clicking send to back option. You can attach the xlf here also by changing the extension to txt. My e-mail: ari007.cse@gmail.com
